At Operation HOPE we speak often about the power of board leadership, transformed by “time, talent and treasure.”  While by no means a summary of Operation HOPE board leadership, I wanted to share the stories of three board members who have truly shown the virtues of each:

Picture-Pierre Nov 2008
Pierre Habis, Executive Vice President of UnionBanCal, a new member of our national board has already taken the lead in framing an expanded vision for our alliance together.  He has mobilized his team members throughout his banking platform to become new HOPE Corps members, attended our recent board retreat and most recently, purchased 600 copies of LOVE LEADERSHIP for each of his senior leaders within the bank, with proceeds to benefit Operation HOPE.

Blonge
Brian Longe, President and CEO of Wolters Kluwer, joined our national board in May of 2008 and has shown nothing but leadership and passion since coming on board; including 1-yr. of in-kind printing of Banking on Our Future curriculum (valued at $130,000).  Brian also purchased more than 200 copies of LOVE LEADERSHIP for every attendee of a recently sponsored Wolters Kluwer Community Reinvestment Act conference.

TswansonTom Swanson, Regional Manager of Wells Fargo recently became chairman of our HOPE Southwest board and has consistently hosted HOPE Leaders (staff) at various social events, raised money through his United Way campaign with employees, helped to facilitate additional grant resources for our Mortgage HOPE Crisis Hotline, and most recently purchased 50 copies of LOVE LEADERSHIP for leaders within his unit.  Following Tom’s lead, Wells Fargo Mortgage has recently purchased 100 copies for members of its senior management team in Iowa.

These are but three examples of those who show us how to lead best, by leading most.  This is Love Leadership in action.  Thanks for all that you do.

Happy Holidays to you and yours and we will see you in 2010 as we embrace the opportunities to do more, together.

With HOPE,

John Hope Bryant

Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Tim Chrisman

Vice Chairman of the Board
