Lead with love, not fear
Singapore - Leaders obsessed with making money end up treating employees like transactions instead of making the effort to build relationships with them, says John Hope Bryant, author of Love Leadership.
According to Bryant, other leadership failings also include greed, too much focus on short-term goals and on the transactional business and a focus on the individual rather than the larger organisation.
Bryant argues that money should be the "by-product" of success. But since leaders have made it the "product", it has led to the current global crisis of virtues and values.
Hence, leaders should adopt an approach that allows them to do well and do good. And that is to lead with love. This is the only way to build sustainable wealth in the 21st century, he says.
