John Bryant color shot Two years almost to the day that I was originally inspired to write this book, LOVE LEADERSHIP: The New Way to Lead in a Fear-Based World.  It wasn't a book idea back then, it was simply me finding my own path forward in and for my own life.

I was sitting in a meeting amongst my fellow Young Global Leaders (YGLs) two years ago as we discussed leadership challenges around the world. As we clicked through a laundry list of problems, and responses to them, it hit me that most of our so-called leaders were responding with, and even leading through fear.  And then it hit me; "there were two primary drivers in the world. There was love and there was fear, and what you didn't love you feared." More so, I came to the conclusion that the biggest problem we faced going forward was a global crisis of confidence.  It was fear that changed the hearts and minds of some in Germany when Hitler blamed the problems of Germany on their Jewish population.  The reality was that Germany had been in an economic and confidence nose dive from the end of World War I forward, and by the late 1930's the average GGerman, wracked by fear, and were prepared to believe almost  anything. Anything other than "they" themselves, were ultimately responsible for the reality of their lives.

2-years ago I devised a list of 28 principle of LOVE LEADERSHIP, and today those 28 of principles of my life, inspired by YGLs including Shai Agassi,Zainab Salbi and Alvaro Rodriguez, have been re-framed for the benefit of you, in your life, as the 5 Laws of Love Leadership.

Like Magic

Almost precisely 2-years later, I found myself once again back in Dalian, China, this time signing copies of my new book. I had brought 70 complimentary copies for my fellow YGLs, as a modest, mall way for me to say "thank you" to my friends, at the Annual Meeting of the Forum of Young Global Leaders, and the Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (the Summer Davos).  My greatest moments came within a few hours of each other, and occurred both up close and at a distance. I ran out of books amongst my YGL friends before I ran out of YGLs (smile), and then within a few hours I received confirmation that my new book, released a mere two weeks time, had already made it to the TOP 10 BUSINESS BEST SELLER LIST for CEO READ, a recognized national book channel for leading corporate and business interests. It was like, well, magic.  It also felt good when I heard that several of my hard charging YGL friends had already gotten through half of the book overnight and loved it.

Dream big dreams, and even surprise yourself every once and a while.  "If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plan."  Not only is God laughing, at this point so am I. Laughing with the joy of a dream made real, both for me and for others. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Onward with HOPE
