"The fact is, we all speak glowingly about the lives, teachings and works of a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. or a Nelson Mandela, but we very seldom actually immolate the spirit and work ethic that fueled their passion for positive change.  The reality is that Dr. King and Mandela were optimists first; they believed that change was indeed possible.  And then they did something about it.  Maybe my friend, civil rights icon Dr. Dorothy I. Height said it best when she said, “we need to be dreamers with shovels in our hands.”  Or as I like to say, “Ph.D’s are good, but respectfully, Ph. Do’s are better.”  This is the mandate for social entrepreneurs in the 21st century; to do something, positive. To be dreamers, with shovels in our hands."
