“If you’re a short-term person, you need morals, because there’s a huge gap between your own interest and the interest of society. But if you’re a long-term person, your own interest and the interests of society converge.

If you’re doing things that in the short-term are good for you, but in the long-term are ruining the environment, you’re building a less equal and less humane society where prosperity is not widespread. You’re not going to have a consumer to sell to in 20 years. But if you have a long-term perspective, you realize that you cannot build your actions on your own interest alone in the short-term. Everything you do for your long-term interest is also good for the long-term interest of society.”
