5725jbphotoiiThrough African Ancestry, and thereafter the 23 and Me DNA programs, I have discovered that (1) my root DNA comes from Cameroon, which borders Nigeria on the western coast of Africa, and (2) that I am also 72% African, 21% European and 6% Asian (Indian). In short, we are all the same, as a good deal of everyone today is of some mixed blood background.  This should also confirm to anyone not already convinced that racism is stupid.

The founders of the Human Genome Project, Dr. Eric Lander being one of them whom I met during my time at Harvard University, have discovered that after decoding more than 3 billion human genes — that more than 99% of our genes are exactly the same, and a portion of that small fraction which is different governs "look" (hair, eyes, skin pigmentation, etc).

As we all stop to celebrate the 4th of July here in the United States, this sort of knowledge provides for the greatest independence and freedom. Freedom from ignorance.

We are all literally brothers and sisters, sharing this small planet.

Onward and with HOPE,

John Hope Bryant
