"Some people ask me — why are you hanging out with the (Republican) President? Hmmm…let me see, uhhh, because he is the PRESIDENT? That one is not difficult. Let me go one step further. My community is in a crisis, and we lead every negative thing you can imagine; from obesity to illiteracy, to diabetes, to poverty, to record high school drop out rates. So I don’t really care whether you are black or white, rich or poor, liberal or conservative, Republican or Democrat. If you want to help me eradicate poverty in my community, then you are my friend. If you don’t, you are waisting my time. Ph.D’s are good, but Ph.Do’s are better."

Note: It was this same U.S. President, George W. Bush, that signed into law an Executive Order on January 22nd,2008, establishing the U.S. President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy, and making financial literacy the policy of the federal government.  And so, all I have to say is thank you Mr. President.

John Hope Bryant

Chairman and founder, Operation HOPE

Vice chairman, U.S. President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy
