Copy_of_imag0257_2This is one of my favorite photos, because it is such a blend between the old world and the new, a blend between animal and man, and a  wonderful, thoughtful contrast between the spirit that should matter more, and the material, which often matters too much. It also says, we can live together, in peace.

One other thing that was going through my mind at the time was — I am Africa.

Well, this past Tuesday, thanks to the help from my friend Gina Paige, CEO of African Ancestry, this statement became real. You see, Gina ran a swab of my DNA and confirmed my origins — in Cameroon, West Africa. I was thrilled. My statement at the time was "…we are empowered by details, and this small fact is a significant detail in my life, and brings with it such inner dignity. I am forever linked to my beginnings, and I have always felt something very special about being in Africa when I visit the continent."

Life can be a wonderful thing, but you must make it that way.

"Whether you believe you can, or believe you can’t, you are right."
