Mlk_chicago_dc_nyc_la_presss_conferWhile visiting my team at the Harlem HOPE Center I had an opportunity to meet a true bright light for the future; the daughter of our own Theresa Kelly (pictured on the right), our administrator at the Harlem Center, young Ms. Tiera Kelly.

Tiera, pictured on my left, aspires to attend Howard University in Washington, D.C. where she will study medicine and then become a pediatrician.

Tiera and her college bound ambitions, along with the call received from the White House while I was at the Harlem HOPE Center, advising me that I had been appointed vice chairman of the U.S. President’s Advisory Council on Financial Literacy, made my day.  If what we seek to do at the highest level of society fails to impact life at the lowest yet most dignity rich levels of society, then we have failed. Tiera and her mom are comfirmation that hope is worth all the faith.

This is the silver rights movement in action.

Onward with HOPE
