"Florida civil rights leader Bob Gilder once said, ‘we’ve engaged in sit-ins, wade-ins, and walk-ins. I suggest we engage some study-ins.’

That is the brand of courage that is needed right now from black leaders nationwide. It is a willingness to speak truth inside the black community. It is a willingness to pay the price for speaking in defiance of political alliances and deals that have left black children wandering like lost souls in a biblical desert, subject to all sorts of illusions and distortions that twist centuries of efforts by black people to educate themselves and their children, into the illusion that educated black people are acting white."
