Dc_to_la_to_sb_065This weekend my sweetie and I are up the coast celebrating the wedding of our good friend, HOPE Mid-Atlantic board member and HOPE Partner, Bernie Wilson, to the love of his life, Andrea, soon to become Mr. & Mrs. Wilson after their ceremony later today. Well, after a hardy morning meal it was time to feed my soul, and my body too. I accomplish that, as many times a week as possible, through cycling. Fact is, I feel better fit, and younger even, than I did when I was 20 years old.

Yes, you must work and exercise your mind and your spirit, but don’t forget to exercise your body too. If you are good to it, it will be good to you. People ask me how it is I am able to log more 300,000 air miles annually. Well, in part, this is the reason. I work hard to take care of myself. No one else will.

My sweetie loves me, but she cannot take care of me, completely. Only I can do that. Or as the flight attendant once said, "when the plane is going down, put the oxygen mask on your face first and then your child, because if you cannot save you, you cannot save them." Wise words.

Remember to take care of yourself, inside and out, even as you seek to care for your family, friends and those around you, and community too. Charity starts at home.

See you 15 hard, rolling hill miles later…. Dc_to_la_to_sb_066_2

Remember, "love is work."

Onward with HOPE
