In Malawi, 84% of the population lives in rural areas; in Bangladesh, 76%; in India, 72%; and in China, 61%. In the United States, at the other end of the development spectrum, it is just 20%.
Services account for under 25% of employment in Malawi, whereas in the United States, they account for 75%.
