Hello John,

“Street Days” for 2007 are off to a great start! I wanted to give you a quick update on our first two Street Days that took place in Baldwin Hills and Maywood. At both HOPE Center locations we hit the ground running armed with flyers and bags with materials that included our newsletter, Emergency Financial First Aid Kit, HOPE Center Overall Services flyer, Stakeholder Application Form, “Racism and the Silver Rights Movement” book, and marketing material from our partners. A total of 425 bags have been distributed and also about 400 additional flyers.

We visited homes and businesses around our HOPE Center communities and also making sure that every person we passed by knew who Operation HOPE was. It was not surprising that there is still a lot of HOPE that we need to spread in our communities. People were excited to hear about what we do and businesses were very willing to share with their clients what we do. We have secured 10 business locations where they want to insure we stock their stores with flyers about our services. For those few homeowners that we came across, they always had a brother, a sister, or a friend who they wanted to encourage through our services to become home owners.

Wendy Profit came across a young lady in Maywood who was eager to learn more about how we could help her. The man she was with was interrupting her, had only negative feedback, and was giving her a hard time about wanting to learn more. He had obviously lost HOPE a long time ago. As he pulled her away she was still asking questions, but she did manage to take a flyer and looked over to see where our HOPE Center was located. I share this story with you because it illustrates how our spreading of HOPE is still desperately needed in our communities and I hope “Street Day” is just one of the many efforts to continually do this throughout the year.

Present at the Baldwin Hills “Street Day” was the HOPE Center Los Angeles staff, Lance Triggs, Adrienne Mc Miller, Stacy Sanchez, Ilya Monroe, and our realtor partner Robert Ross of Huntington Browne Real Estate.

Present at the Maywood “Street Day” was the HOPE Center Los Angeles staff, Lance Triggs, Adrienne Mc Miller, Wendy Profit, and Hilda Gonzalez.

We are now gearing up for the upcoming Street Days. It is off to Watts tomorrow!

Take care,
