Yd2h9420Los Angeles, CAJanuary 30, 2007 – For the third consecutive year, Young Global Leader (YGL) and Operation HOPE, Founder, Chairman and CEO, John Hope Bryant participated in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos. Bryant joined over 2,000 leaders from 39 countries to address the WEF as a Young Global Leader at the five-day conference.

Through HOPE Global Initiatives, Bryant shared his extensive experience as a social entrepreneur and his unique perspective for building bridges between corporations, governments and communities. Bryant discussed Global Dignity and its role in the Silver Rights Movement. Silver Rights is HOPE’s ongoing mission to eradicate poverty and empower the wealthless by establishing the right to financial literacy, access to capital, and equality of opportunity for the underserved. Global Dignity is the YGLs initiative to promote the importance of living a dignified life.

This year the World Economic Forum conference theme is Shaping the Global Agenda; The Shifting Power Equation, and addresses world issues ranging from “climate changes” to “economic growth.”  The WEF is an independent international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging leaders in partnerships to shape global, regional and industry solutions. Each year the WEF nominates around 200 YGLs to be engaged for a period of five years, ultimately forming a community of 1,111 by 2009. Bryant accepted his nomination in 2004.

The Young Global Leaders have their own distinct autonomous governance structure but act in close cooperation with the World Economic Forum. YGLs strive to reach their objectives through a set of initiatives targeted at improving the state of the world by 2030.

As the former first ever goodwill ambassador to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Bryant developed HOPE Global Initiatives to address Operation HOPE’s ever increasing role in promoting and advocating the benefits of economic empowerment as a tool for improving the quality of life in developing countries.

HOPE partners and supporters who also participated at the event include: Citigroup and E*TRADE Financial, the New York Stock Exchange, and JPMorgan Chase.
