Nigeriasullivan_summit_trip_094Here my hero Ambassador Andrew Young leads Martin Luther King, III, actress Sheryl Lee Ralph and myself at one of several press conferences we participated in at the VII Leon H. Sullivan Summit in Abuja, Nigeria from July 17th through the 21st, 2006.

Sheryl talked about her personal efforts to help Africa, donating her talents in a one-woman show, which she performed before delegates, the Vice President of Nigeria and World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz while there.

Martin talked about his forthcoming "Listening Tour" in the United States around the issue of poverty, which was the work his father was focused on at the time of his death and could in turn become a model for leaders and their interaction with the poor in Africa.

I spoke about my vision for a global "silver rights" movement of and for the poor, the wealthless and the under-served, and what we were doing about it at Operation HOPE and HOPE Global Initiatives.

HOPE was represented at the Summit by Mary Hagerty, chief of financial literacy and Jena Roscoe, chief of government relations (both of whom traveled as guests of Andrew Young and the Sullivan Summit).

I chaired a session and spoke on topic, "Africa's Entrepreneurs," during the Leon H. Sullivan Summit on Monday, July 17th, 2006.

Onward, with HOPE
