As part of the recent World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders Summit in Vancouver, Canada, my sweetie and I got a chance to explore some of the beautiful water ways of British Columbia. Our guide was Native Indian and really gave us an incredible lesson of the trials, challenges and triumphs of the Native Indian people throughout Canada, but specifically British Columbia. It has not been an easy time for most of the tribes, either 100 years ago nor today, frankly. The story of Native Indians in Canada is not all that different from the story of Native Indians here in America. My wish for all Native Indians in Canada is to finally achieve parity, equity and their fare share of dignity. They are as brilliant, talented and smart as anyone else that calls Canada home.
