Rwanda_may_2006_056 I took this spontaneous picture of the "future" of Africa, in Rwanda, during a walking tour on yesterday with Ambassador Andrew Young and a camera crew. They don’t have much materially, but as you can clearly see, these children are genuinely rich in spirit. This is what I mean when I continually say, mostly to America’s low-wealth young people, "there is a difference between being broke and being poor. Being broke is a temporary economic condition, but being poor is a disabling frame of mind, and a depressed condition of your spirit, and you must vow to never, ever be poor again." These kids clearly are not poor, even though they do not own very much. They do own themselves. Many in America could learn from this sort of hope.

Onward, with HOPE
