Boston_tripharvard_award_015(Cambridge, MA) Thursday, April 13, 2006- The Association of Black Harvard Women (ABHW) will honor businessman, activist, community leader, and author John Hope Bryant as the Outstanding Man of the Year at the Annual Tribute to Black Men at the Colonnade in Boston on Saturday, April 15, 2006.

Each year, the Association of Black Harvard Women holds a Tribute to Black Men to honor distinguished Black men on Harvard’s campus and beyond. The Tribute was established to promote political awareness and cultural celebration at Harvard and beyond and to honor the leadership of Black men in the community and in society as a whole.  The centerpiece of the event is the presentation of the Outstanding Man of the Year Vanguard Award to a distinguished Black male outside the Harvard community who has exhibited exemplary qualities in service and leadership within the wider black community. Past honorees include NAACP Image Award winning news broadcaster Ed Gordon, Emmy-award winner, talk show host, and philanthropist Montel Williams, and essayist and journalist Kevin Powell.

The Association is honoring Bryant for exemplifying the values of leadership, activism, integrity, and commitment to the Black community.  He will be honored and give inspirational remarks at an evening dinner in Boston’s Colonnade.  The program will feature performances by Harvard students and award presentations to some of its accomplished black male students. Please contact Tribute to Black Men Publicity Chair, Ms. Precious Eboigbe for more information.

The Association of Black Harvard Women (ABHW) was founded in 1975, with the mission to strengthen the bonds of black sisterhood through community discussion, social events and public service.
