June_05_272_2Today California State Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi and I joined an incredible group of young bright HOPE lights at Fruitvale Elementary School in Oakland, where we brought a silver right movement message through financial literacy and on our Banking on Our Future Across America initiative!

What a great day. The kids, led by their incredible principal, Ms. Cherie Ivey, opened up the morning pep rally before invited VIP guests and volunteer HOPE Corps members by reciting TO ME…to following quote; "there is a difference between being broke and being poor. Being broke is a temporary economic situation, and being poor is a disabling mental condition and a depressed condition of the spirit, and we must vow to never be poor again…"

June_05_274 Wow. They got, from financial literacy basics, as taught by our incredible team of more than 180 Bay Area volunteers, right down to the importance of being rich in spirit. What more can one ask for….

You can check out the Banking on Our Future photo album for a complete portfolio of the day’s events in Oakland.

Check in tomorrow and you will also be able to hear the morning rally, as well as an actual Banking on Our Future classroom session as led by Frank Bonetto, vice chairman for Bank of the West, our lead partner in the Oakland HOPE Center and a partner in Banking on Our Future, Oakland as well!

Onward, with HOPE
