Dsc_0083_3God is good.

From South Central Los Angeles, to the South Lawn of the White House. From Davos, Switzerland, to Detroit, Michigan.

From the lower eastside of New York, to east of the river in Anacostia, 10 minutes from our nation’s capitol in Washington, D.C.  This is my life, and it is a good one. As I said….God is good!

Last week, like the April 12th event before it in Atlanta, Georgia, with Ambassador Andrew Young, and Dr. Dorothy Height, who also joined us last week in Washington, D.C, was a great "payoff" for 13 years of "setting it up right" with, for and through Operation HOPE — for the benefit of our community.  April 12th, 2005, for A Day of HOPE with Andrew Young, was historic. But May 4th, 2005, for the opening of the HOPE Center serving Anacostia and Greater Washington, D.C., was spirit lifting, tangible….and inspiring too. It said to us all laboring in the vineyards of HOPE — "your efforts have not been in vein."

Dsc_0066 MORE THAN 600 VIPs and community residents, representing government (on a bi-partisan basis), the private sector and community, crowed under a white tent….IN ANACOSTIA….to dedicate the first HOPE Center outside of the California for Operation HOPE, and a new beacon of hope for greater Washington, D.C. and the people that call it home. From HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson, to Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, to Mayor Anthony Williams, to Hector Barreto, Administrator of the U.S. SBA, to Dr. Dorothy Height, to EDA Assistant Secretary David Sampson, to Councilmen Marion Barry and Vincent Gray, to NCUA Chairwoman JoAnn Johnson, to FDIC Vice Chairman John Reich, to our Mid-Atlantic Board Chairman Steve Ryan of Manatt, Phelps, to Robert Bobb, Stan Jackson and Dana Bryson of District Government, to Reverend Kip Banks of East Washington Heights Baptist Church, to Sandra Braunstein of the Federal Reserve System, to Arlen Gelbard, president of E Trade Bank and chief administrative officer for E Trade Financial, to Matt Geary and Celie Niehaus of the E Trade family (simply could not have gotten this DONE without the help, support and leadership of Matt and Celie!! Thanks you two!), to our own Lance Triggs (handling EVERYTHING) and Jena Roscoe (handling government), the former Delise Cousins, now Delise Bernard, and the entire Operation HOPE team in D.C. — bravo, and hat’s off to you all. I am proud of you.Dsc_0072

This is just the beginning….

Onward, with HOPE
