Today I was a keynote speaker for the 2005 National Summit on Economic & Financial Literacy, sponsored by the National Council on Economic Education (NCEE) and my friend in HOPE Dr. Robert Duvall, president and CEO of NCEE, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. It was a fantastic national gathering together of some of the best minds and most powerful policy makers in America.
Other VIPs and speakers present included U.S. Senator Daniel Akaka, Craig Donohue, CEO, Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Congressman Harold Ford, Congressman Ruben Hinojosa, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Financial Education, U.S. Treasury, and staff for the National Commission on Financial Literacy and Education, Dan Iannicola, Jr., Harold McGraw, III, chairman, president and CEO, the McGraw-Hill Companies, Rhonda Mims, president, ING Foundation, Cathy Minehan, president, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Susan Molinari, former Congresswoman from New York and national chairperson and spokesperson for Americans for Consumer Education and Competition, Gary Stern, president, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, Governor Mark Warner of Virginia and chairman of the National Governor’s Association, and economist, humorist actor and author Ben Stein, amongst others…
All around, a fantastic day in our nation’s capitol!
P.S. — A very special "thank you" to the ever brilliant Jena Roscoe, senior vice president and chief of government affairs of Operation HOPE, for attending the event and staffing on behalf of Operation HOPE.
